Abstract
Using D + mesons exclusively reconstructed in the DELPHI experiment at LEP, an excess of 67 \Sigma 15(stat.) events is observed in the D + ß + ß \Gamma invariant mass distribution. This signal is compatible with the expected decay of a radially excited D 0 (J P = 1 \Gamma ) meson. The measured mass is 2637 \Sigma 2(stat.) \Sigma 7(syst.) MeV/c 2 . The production fraction of D 0 relative to orbitally excited D () J is estimated : Br(Z ! (D 0 ! D + ß + ß \Gamma ) X) X J=1;2 Br(Z ! (D ()0 J !
