Abstract
Public Schools are installing computer technology in classrooms at an alarming rate. However, the training for this infusion of technology does not always transfer to integration of the technology into the curriculum. Helping staff use technology effectively may be the most important step in realizing the current and future investments in technology. To address the lack of technology training and staff's reaction to computer technology usage, this study used the Model of Diffusion (Dooley, 1995) to determine the benefits of computers and the impediments to their use in one rural school district in Texas. Diffusion and change studies can be translated into a variety of different contexts and to a vast array of innovations.
