Abstract. Processes count to the most important assets of companies. Ensuring the compliance of processes to legal regulations, governance guidelines, and strategic business requirements is a sine qua non condition to controlling business behavior. Implementing business process compliance requires means for modeling and enforcing compliance measures. In this work, we motivate the need for automation in compliance management and introduce the role of policies. We then distinguish eight requirements for a compliance management framework. We also discuss different ways of conducting compliance checking. Finally, we propose a policy-based framework for business process compliance management. We eventually proceed to a discussion of the soundness and practicability of our approach, followed by an investigation of the main challenges ahead of our approach to policy-based semantic business process compliance management.

Large organizations often run hundreds or even thousands of business processes. Managing such large collections of business processes is a challenging task. Intelligent software can assist in that task by providing common repository functions such as storage, search and version management. They can also provide advanced functions that are specific for man-aging collections of process models, such as managing the consistency of public and private processes and extracting knowledge from existing processes to better design new processes. This paper presents a framework for repositories that assist in managing large collections of business process models, It also presents a survey of the functionality that existing reposito-ries provide. The framework consists of a management model and a reference architecture. The management model lists the functionality that can be provided. The reference architec-ture presents the components that provide this functionality and their interconnections. The survey presents an overview of existing repositories and the functionality from the frame-work that they provide. By presenting a framework and a survey, this paper is a basis for a future research agenda. From the survey, we conclude that the field of Business Process Model Repositories is an important and active field in research and practice, but that com-plete repositories are not yet available and that existing repositories focus on traditional functionality rather than exploiting the full potential of information management tools.

Abstract: In order to respond quickly to changing market requirements, a business organisation needs to increase the level of agility in all phases of the business process engineering chain. Business process (BP) modelling is the first and most important phase in this chain. Designing a new and redesigning an existing process model is a highly complex, time consuming and error prone task. In this work, we contribute to BP modelling by designing and implementing a framework for querying in business process modelling which i) supports decision making, ii) facilitates reuse of modelling artefacts and iii) helps ensuring compliance of models to relevant regulations. 1

Abstract. This work presents an auto-completion mechanism for supporting the creation of executable business process models. Currently, process modeling tools provide only little support to identify the relevant services that are needed to execute the process model – t he selection of appropriate services is left to the skills of the modeler. A novel solution technique for this problem is proposed here as the combination of (1) a context-based analysis, (2) by taking pre and post-conditions into account, and by (3) evaluating the non-functional properties of the functionally and context-wise fitting services. 1 Introduction & Problem description Business process modeling has evolved into an important means for the collection, documentation, and analysis of processes in companies and public administrations. Recently, the focus of business process modeling has changed from just being a means for documentation towards enabling process enactment. The constantly

Abstract. This paper discusses potential benefits from adding semantics to Business Process Management from a methodological point of view, with a focus on the Modeling and Configuration phases. For this purpose, in each of these phases the established activities are examined and new activities are suggested: Firstly, we suggest combining existing control flow validation techniques with semantic process validation techniques. Second, discovery and composition techniques can be used to find implementations, e.g. services (or combinations of services), for the implementation of process activities at modeling time. The discovered implementations allow for mapping the process steps to the IT infrastructure according to several strategies during process configuration, which helps clearly separating modeling from configuration concerns. Furthermore, a new way of testing executable process models is suggested. 5 1

Abstract. Despite there exist different proposals for reusing existing well-designed artifacts for process modelling and capturing variability in business process models, most of them suffer from three major shortcomings: lack of automation support in (i) maintaining the configurable process model, (ii) modelling sub-processes as stand alone entities and (iii) user-centricity and decision support in choosing the suitable alternatives. In this context, we propose a framework that allows for reusing process models. We present in this paper our ongoing research in defining this framework that contains a data structure and its construction principles as well as first thoughts about maintaining it when adding process variants.
