On the algorithmic implementation of multi-class kernel-based vector machines

by Koby Crammer, Yoram Singer, Nello Cristianini, John Shawe-taylor, Bob Williamson - Journal of Machine Learning Research
"... In this paper we describe the algorithmic implementation of multiclass kernel-based vector machines. Our starting point is a generalized notion of the margin to multiclass problems. Using this notion we cast multiclass categorization problems as a constrained optimization problem with a quadratic ob ..."

to incorporate kernels with a compact set of constraints and decompose the dual problem into multiple optimization problems of reduced size. We describe an efficient fixed-point algorithm for solving the reduced optimization problems and prove its convergence. We then discuss technical details that yield

Generating Representative Web Workloads for Network and Server Performance Evaluation

by Paul Barford, Mark Crovella , 1997
"... One role for workload generation is as a means for understanding how servers and networks respond to variation in load. This enables management and capacity planning based on current and projected usage. This paper applies a number of observations of Web server usage to create a realistic Web worklo ..."

It also addresses the technical challenges to satisfying this large set of simultaneous constraints on the properties

Improved microbial gene identification with GLIMMER

by Arthur L. Delcher, Douglas Harmon, Simon Kasif, Owen White, Steven L. Salzberg , 1999
"... The GLIMMER system for microbial gene identification finds ~97--98% of all genes in a genome when compared with published annotation. This paper reports on two new results: (i) significant technical improvements to GLIMMER that improve its accuracy still further, and (ii) a comprehensive evaluation ..."

Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis: Understanding concepts and applications

by Bruce Thompson , 2004
"... provides a concise (162 pages of text) and basic overview of two disciplines of assessing structure: exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). As Thompson explains, the book was written ‘‘to strike a happy medium between accuracy and completeness versus over-whelming ..."

"... Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) research has been primarily focused towards large-scale systems and industry, while other areas that require attention are often over-looked by researchers. For this reason, this research looked at automatic speech recognition at the consumer level. Many individual ..."

This article consists primarily of a graphic map of the Data Access Object (DAO), showing its properties, methods, and child objects. The map highlights changes between DAO version 2.5 and DAO version 3.0. The Data Access Object The Data Access Object (DAO) uses the Microsoft ® Jet database engine to communicate with database servers via the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) driver manager and a specified server driver (as shown in Figure 1). The DAO bypasses ODBC when the database is the Jet engine or another ISAM data source. This approach insulates the developer from many database-programming complexities while providing high-level data access objects, properties, and methods. Figure 1. The relationship between the Data Access Object and other data components The DAO is available in Visual C and many Visual Basic for Applications–based products. These include Microsoft

Coil sensitivity encoding for fast MRI. In:

by Klaas P Pruessmann , Markus Weiger , Markus B Scheidegger , Peter Boesiger - Proceedings of the ISMRM 6th Annual Meeting, , 1998
