G Wunder1*, RFH Fischer2, S Litsyn3 and JS No4 Green information technology has significantly fuelled the discussion about energy efficiency in information networks. Already today, energy cost of network opera-tion can make up as much as 50 % of the total opera-tional cost. Notably, by the complexity of networks in general, the efficiency problem is hard to tackle on a global scale but entails several important sub-problems. One of these sub-problems is the energy efficiency of the high-power amplifier (HPA) at the very end of the radio frequency chain of the physical layer [1]. The HPA consumes a major fraction of the total energy bud-get of which, depending on the efficiency class, still much is dissipated as thermal energy and therefore wasted. While smart HPA design can alleviate much of

UNICEF reports and daily newspaper reports suggest that street children are excluded from existing child rights facilities in Bangladesh. To examine the situation of social exclusion of street children, this paper examined the development policies for children in Bangladesh to understand how the existing policies can protect street children‟s rights and how they could enjoy country‟s currently available facilities. It explored the linkage between education programs, child rights in Bangladesh and inclusion of street children in development policies to improve their situation, besides it‟s pointed the weakness of policies for not showing expected outcomes. The paper used United Nations Convention of the Right of Children (CRC) as a theoretical base and data had been collected from analytical review of available literature on child rights and child education in Bangladesh along with government and international organizations reports regarding this matter. The findings of this work demonstrated less concentration about street children in development policies for children, together with not covering all street children in running projects. The analysis advocated education as a prior policy for them to ensure the fundamental facilities and protection as a

Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is endemic in the semi-arid region of north-eastern Brazil. The causative agent is Leishmania chagasi (infantum). The domestic, peri-domestic and anthropophilic sandfly vector is Lutzomyia longipalpis. The domestic dog may be the principal reservoir of infection in endemic urban regions. The primary aim of this project was to study comparative diagnosis and transmissibility of natural and experimental canine VL in the city of T eresina, Piaui state, Brazil. Most (67 %) of human cases of VL in Teresina occurred in children under 5 years of age, adult VL predominated in males, and there was a seasonal increase in incidence of cases. No phenotypic diversity was found between L. chagasi isolates from dogs and humans, although limited comparisons were performed. Clinical diagnosis, parasitological diagnosis and serology were compared in a cohort of 209 dogs, comprised of both symptomatic and

Abstract. Previous research suggests that Hispanic elders, as a group, have been much more likely to live with others, especially adult children, than have other, especially non-Hispanic White, elders. It has also tracked an increase in solitary and couple-only living among the latter group since the turn of the century. However, it has not tracked changed living ar-rangements among Hispanic elders. When we do so, we find little aggregate change since 1970, but noteworthy change in different directions among different Hispanic subgroups. Thus aggregate figures for a diverse minority group may be masking very real changes and makes it all the more imperative that we consider different Latino groups separately and try to better understand issues of immigration and acculturation.
