Fields of experts: A framework for learning image priors

by Stefan Roth, Michael J. Black - In CVPR , 2005
"... We develop a framework for learning generic, expressive image priors that capture the statistics of natural scenes and can be used for a variety of machine vision tasks. The approach extends traditional Markov Random Field (MRF) models by learning potential functions over extended pixel neighborhood ..."

Control of locomotion in expert gymnasts in the absence of vision

by F. Danion, A. Boyadjian, L. Marin - Journal of Sports Sciences , 2000

Two species of crabs are Chionoecetes bairdi and C. opilio and their hybrids live in the Bering Sea. Two species differ in genetic, morphological and morphometric characteristics. Interbreeding of C. bairdi and C. opilio results in a hybrid form with intermediate morphological and morphometric characteristics. These spaces were determined by analyzing the empirical covariance matrices associated with the two species and hybrid and by taking into account the statistical reliability of the estimated principal components. A modified Eigen Image classifier is implemented based on the assumption that the data is drawn from multivariate Gaussian distributions with different means and covariance matrices. The clustering technique is introduced to minimize the misclassification rate of the Eigen Image classifier. 1.

Vision of a visipedia

by P. Perona - Proceedings of the IEEE , 2010
"... The web is not perfect: while text is easily searched and organized, pictures (the vast majority of the bits that one can find on-line) are not.
