The Center for International Private Enterprise’s mission is to build democracy around the world through the promotion of private enterprise and market-oriented economic reform. Established as an affiliate of the US Chamber of Commerce in 1983, CIPE is principally supported by the National Endowment for Democracy, with additional support from private foundations and the US Agency for International Development. In its 17 years of operation, CIPE has completed over 700 projects in more than 70 countries working with policymakers, business leaders, and journalists to build the civic institutions vital to democratic society.
