Detrimental effects of reward: reality or myth

by Robert Eisenberger, Judy Cameron - American Psychologist , 1996
"... Based on seemingly overwhelming empirical evidence of the decremental effects of reward on intrinsic task interest and creativity, the use of reward to alter human behavior has been challenged in literature reviews, textbooks, and the popular media. An analysis of a quarter century of research on in ..."

For many years, environmental agencies have sought to improve the water quality of lakes and estuaries by reducing inputs of phosphorus. New research indicates that we must reduce both phosphorus and nitrogen to reverse eutrophica-tion symptoms. Nutrients are chemical elements that influence the productivity of all ecosystems. Nitrogen and phosphorus are two nutrients that are essential for the growth and survival of plants and animals, but often are present in short supply. Both nitrogen and phosphorus are applied regularly through fertilizer to increase the yield of crops needed to feed human populations. Fertilizers also are used widely for residential and commercial landscaping purposes.

Detrimental Effect of a Diabetic Environment

by On Endothelial Progenitors, Simon F. Leicht, Theresa M. Schwarz, Patrick C. Hermann, Jochen Seissler, Ra Aicher, Christopher Heeschen
"... OBJECTIVE—It has been shown that vascular progenitors from patients with diabetes are dysfunctional. However, therapeutic strategies to counteract their reduced functional capacity are still lacking. Because adiponectin has reported salutary effects on endothelial function, we investigated the funct ..."

Detrimental effect of quercetin on phytoplasma-infected

by unknown authors
"... Quercetin is known to possess antimicrobial activity against bacteria, fungi, and viruses. The activity of this flavonoid against phytoplasmas, non-cultivable plant pathogenic bac-teria that cause numerous plant diseases, has never been examined before. The aim of this research was to examine the ef ..."

The addition of quercetin neither supported the growth of the shoots nor induced the remission of symptoms in the infected
