Table 1: Respondents apos; positions Before discussing the analysis of the 275 completed questionnaires we present the information on our respondents apos; attributes (as detailed in Section 5). Table 1 presents a breakdown of the di erent positions held by respondents, the largest proportion being software engineers (46.2%).5 The `Others apos; category consists of class librarians, consultants, research assistants, system managers, and technical directors. Table 2 presents a break down of the respondents apos; experience of the object-oriented paradigm, the largest proportion (34.4%) having greater than 4 years experience. 5Any quoted percentages in the remainder of this article have been calculated using the number of responses received for each question (and hence cumulatively should add up to approximately 100%).
