ffl Paper Title: Unsupervised Segmentation Using Modified Pyramidal Linking Approach ffl Technical Area: General techniques and algorithms
Abstract:
ffl Nature of problem and its importance: The problem of segmenting images of generic video sequences has been addressed. This is a major problem in several applications ranging from second generation video coding till autonomous robotics. Furthermore, segmentation is vital for the new video compression standard, MPEG4. ffl original contribution: The original Pyramid Linking Approach presented by Burt [2] has been improved in several points. A new spatial consistency relationship has been introduced in the pyramidal process together with a multichannel input. Moreover the parameter dependencies of the original approach have been eliminated by new seeding rules and by the use of entropy based weighting functions. ffl contact author's:-- first name: Francesco
