Abstract: Unresponsive flows have no end-to-end congestion control algorithm implemented hence they do not reduce their transmission rate in times of congestion, causing unfairness and congestion collapse. In this report we investigate an add-on to the well known RED (Random Early Detection) algorithm called RED+. RED+ adds the functionality of detecting and restricting high-bandwidth, unresponsive flows to RED gateways. It is based on the assumption that unresponsive flows have higher demand in times of ...
