Abstract:
LPVM (Lightweight-process PVM) system is an experimental PVM version which supports the use of lightweight-process or threads as the basic unit of parallelism. It was designed to study potential performance improvements and implementation issues required by multithreaded message-passing systems. The current version of LPVM was implemented on SMPs using the native threads and is designed to be thread-safe. Initial test results on SUN SMP are compared to standard PVM.
