Abstract:
Intelligent manufacturing is an important issue for holon control processes. Recent research has investigated dynamic architectures at the factory or cell level but at the lower level, especially at the resource controller level, there has been relatively little work carried out on holon reconfiguration and related techniques. In this paper, a new approach to holonic control at the production and controller levels is presented. Based on metamorphic mechanisms for distributed decision-making in agent-based manufacturing systems, the concept of the dynamic virtual cluster is extended to manufacturing process control at the lower levels. Production taskdriven dynamic clustering mechanisms for resource services, function integration, and cooperative autonomous activities are discussed.
