Abstract:
"... The reader of a book does not see the depth of it. He sees the surface, the upper side. But this upper side is connected by thousands of arteries, roads, trains, phone wires, threads, and mirrors to the surfaces of other books. Each books borders on hundreds of others. In the bookshelves there can be only two neighbors, but for the reader there are as many as he has read...."
