Abstract:

In engineering the requirements for a telecommunications system, the greatest obstacle to be overcome is the sheer complexity of the required behavior. We present several ways of managing and minimizing this complexity, all of proven effectiveness. Most of the specification techniques result from specific application of general requirements principles to the telecommunications domain. Personal use of this material is permitted. However, permission to reprint/republish this material for advertising or promotional purposes or for creating new collective works for resale or redistribution to servers or lists, or to reuse any copyrighted component of this work in other works must be obtained from the IEEE.
