Abstract
1 he purpose ofthis article is to illus-trte the use ofotlo-firmnatorv factor analysis (CFA) to explicate conistructs underlying performance assessment tasks based on Gardnierts- (1983) theory of multiple intelligt Ies.)Ita fromt Plucker, Callahan. and Tomchin (1996) were reanalyzed using CFA. I analyzed several inodels based on the theoretical contceptualizatlon of the authors. their exploratory factor analysis, and the SubeSC'etl'lt reanalx'sis of the data b1 Pv'rvt (2(000). Models that allowed for intercorrelations allionm actors tit better than those without such correlations. Although the performance tasks appeared to Imleasure their constructs as predicted, a model with three factors that combirined Linguistic and Iiterpcrsonal lIntelliglnce, rather than the four original factors, was supported.
