Abstract
1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background One of the most important open problems in biochemistry is predicting the three dimensional structure of a protein from its amino acid sequence. Proteins are key molecules in all life processes. The function of proteins is directly related to their three dimensional structure. Thus, knowing and understanding the structure of proteins will have a tremendous impact on understanding biological processes, medical discoveries, and biotechnological inventions.
