Response to 2-1 Section A.2.3.5.2, last paragraph, has been revised to clarify that Chapter AI0 provides dose rates for a hypothetical ISFSI configuration and that a site specific analysis will be performed by the licensee. The licensee evaluation will demonstrate that the dose rates at the ISFSI and site boundary are in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements. Chapter A.3 Structural Evaluation Question 3-1 Provide the design and an engineering sketch of the "Strongback Device " described in Section A. 3.1.1.1, which may be installed to minimize deformation of the top shield plug assembly during operations that may cause the pressurization of the 24PT4-DSC cavity such as draining, backfilling, and leak testing. The top shield plug is not steel, but is lead filled. The pressurization of the dry shielded canister (DSC) cavity may induce significant deformation of the top shield plug. No "Strongback Device " evaluation is provided in the Appendix. This information is required by the staff to assess compliance with 10 CFR 72.23 6(b).
