Abstract
this paper we define two kinds of measures of population diversity. One set of measures is based on variance, the other is based on information-theoretic uncertainty. Our ultimate goal is to develop methods that facilitate quantitative comparison of diversity dynamics across a variety of artificial and natural systems. 2. Measures of Diversity
