Abstract
This standard specifies the AT Attachment Interface between host systems and storage devices. It provides a common attachment interface for systems manufacturers, system integrators, software suppliers, and suppliers of intelligent storage devices. It includes the Packet Command feature set implemented by devices commonly known as ATAPI devices. This standard maintains a high degree of compatibility with the AT Attachment Interface with Packet Interface -- 5 (ATA/ATAPI-5), NCITS 340-2000, and while providing additional functions, is not intended to require changes to presently installed devices or existing software. T13/1410D revision 0b American National Standard Approval of an American National Standard requires verification by ANSI that the requirements for due process, consensus, and other criteria for approval have been met by the standards developer.
