Abstract
The semi-Lagrangian method is widely used in numerical weather models. The properties of the numerical solutions obtained by this method, depend strongly on the form of spatial interpolation used. In this report, several commonly used interpolants are reviewed and Fourier analysis is applied to the resulting schemes. Error measurements for the advection of more general data are then established,
