Abstract
The performance of large-scale component-based applications is an important issue to be considered. Middleware performance offered by technologies such as EJB, .NET, CORBA does not guarantee the fulfilment of performance requirements. We propose a methodology that automatically builds analytical models and drives possible performance improvements for the systems under study. We outline a methodology of discovering the main transactions within the system at run-time using non-intrusive monitoring. Our belief is this methodology will help in the understanding of performance problems within complex systems.
