Abstract
Active networks are a relatively new paradigm in networking allowing the fast deployment of new protocols by the injection of customised code (capsules) into network nodes. Several active architectures have been proposed exposing varying degrees of flexibility to network applications, but these place emphasis on what capsules can do in a limited domain with static nodes.
