Abstract
For many students summer technology programs are more than a way to ‘get out of the house for the day’. It is the chance to learn new skills, explore unusual subjects and have fun. The choice of summer program by a middle school student can provide an initial spark of interest in future school work or careers. In this paper, a summer program for middle school girls designed with potential future careers is discussed. With computer technology and technology careers as the central theme of the week, the girls visited campus computer labs, listened to invited speakers and created an original computer project.
