Abstract: The concept of migrating processes between networked computers is not a new
one. However, a new computing paradigm is emerging in which an agent is
able to migrate between nodes in a heterogeneous network. Unlike traditional
process migration mechanisms, the agent chooses where and when it wishes to
migrate. There are several possible advantages, but also disadvantages, to the
agent model. Privacy, security, fault tolerance and heterogeneity are important
problems which need to be solved.
