Abstract: The Tacoma project is a joint venture between the University of
Tromsų and Cornell University. The aim of this project is to provide
operating system support for implementing and executing mobile agents.
The key attribute of an agent is that it is able to move around an internetwork
on it's own initiative. We have investigated alternative transport
mechanisms, support for different languages, and means of locating services.
We are currently focusing on security and fault-tolerant issues.
