Abstract. The main focus of this paper is on automatic e-Service composition. We start by developing a framework in which the exported behavior of an e-Service is described in terms of its possible executions (execution trees). Then we specialize the framework to the case in which such exported behavior (i.e., the execution tree of the e-Service) is represented by a finite state machine. In this specific setting, we analyze the complexity of synthesizing a composition, and develop sound and complete algorithms to check the existence of a composition and to return one such a composition if one exists. To the best of our knowledge, our work is the first attempt to provide an algorithm for the automatic synthesis of e-Service composition, that is both proved to be correct, and has an associated computational complexity characterization. 1

In this paper we study automatic composition synthesis of e-Services, based on automated reasoning. We represent the behavior of an e-Service in terms of a deterministic transition system (or a finite state machine), in which for each action the role of the e-Service, either as initiator or as servant, is highlighted. In this setting we present an algorithm based on satisfiability in a variant of Propositional Dynamic Logic that solves the automatic composition problem. Specifically, given (i) a possibly incomplete specification of the sequences of actions that a client would like to realize, and (ii) aset of available e-Services, our technique synthesizes a composite e-Service that (i) uses only the available e-Services and (ii) interacts with the client “in accordance” to the given specification. We also study the computational complexity of the proposed algorithm.

Composition of e-Services is the issue of synthesizing a new composite e- Service, obtained by combining a set of available component e-Services, when a client request cannot be satisfied by available e-Services. In this paper we propose a general framework addressing the problem of e-Service composition. We then show that, under certain assumptions, composition can be realized through DLbased reasoning.

Abstract. In this paper we discuss an effective technique for automatic service composition, and we present the prototype that implements it. In particular, we characterize the behavior of a service in terms of a finite state machine. In this setting we discuss a technique based on satisfiability in a variant of Propositional Dynamic Logic that solves the automatic composition problem. Specifically, given (i) a client specification of his desired service, i.e., the service he would like to interact with, and (ii) a set of available services, our technique synthesizes the orchestration schema of a composite service that uses only the available services and fully realizes the client specification. The developed system is an open source software tool, called ESC (E-Service Composer), that implements our composition technique starting from services each described in terms of a WSDL specification and a behavioral description expressed in any language that can capture finite state machines. 1

ABSTRACT: The combination of Web Services and grid-computing technologies is currently of a major scientific revolution. It combines the middleware solution from Web Services and resource-sharing solutions of grid computing. We present a general framework based on Web Services and grid-based technologies for online laboratories. It is a distributed system model where computational resources and experimental devices throughout the networks are organized into federations. The benefits of this model are information processing capacity increase and resource sharing. We discuss a number of technical considerations using this framework. These include: the descriptions of tele-experimentation resources; the wrapping of instruments into a web service; the composition of Web Services, which is modeled as a planning problem, and; the design of an online laboratory brokerage system, which we dealt with in a former article. We also discuss some issues related to business logic and policy in a particular sector, such as tele-learning and network-supported research via information technologies.

Abstract- Converged services alignment (i.e., orchestration and choreography) has been a dominant topic of several regulatory initiatives. These initiatives were successful to some extent, but had faced also various difficulties, that prevented any final specification grade. Thus, this paper revises the converged services orchestration and choreography concerns that apply for an effective enterprise management and develops a framework that enables service composition considering multiple interconnected perceptions. Furthermore, since the regulatory initiatives in this area have not been built on top of a defined and all-encompassing conceptual foundation, we present a viable alternative to make up for this drawback. The paper also shapes a service provisioning arrangement intended to identify requirements and concepts to be addressed by and integrated into the specification framework.
