We elucidate possibilities of lower estimates of moduli for families of surfaces of dimension n − 1 under mappings with finite distortion. In particular, it makes possible to investigate the boundary behavior of homeomorphisms of finite area distortion, especially, of finitely bi– Lipschitz homeomorphisms between quasi-extremal distance domains by Gehring–Martio. 1
