Classifying the zerotemperature ground states of quantum field theories with finite charge density is a very interesting problem. Via holography, this problem is mapped to the classification of extremal charged black brane geometries with antide Sitter asymptotics. In a recent paper [1], we proposed a Bianchi classification of the extremal nearhorizon geometries in five dimensions, in the case where they are homogeneous but, in general, anisotropic. Here, we extend our study in two directions: we show that Bianchi attractors can lead to new phases, and generalize the classification of ar X iv

Motivated by the holographic principle, within the context of the AdS/CFT Correspondence in the large t’Hooft limit, we investigate how the geometry of certain highly symmetric bulk spacetimes can be recovered given information of physical quantities in the dual boundary CFT. In particular, we use holographic entanglement entropy proposal (relating the entanglement entropy of certain subsystems on the boundary to the area of static minimal surfaces) to recover the bulk metric using higher dimensional minimal surface probes within a class of static, planar symmetric, asymptotically AdS spacetimes. We find analytic and perturbative expressions for the metric function in terms of the entanglement entropy of straight belt and circular disk subsystems of the boundary theory respectively. Finally, we discuss how such extractions can be generalised.

The HOL Light theorem prover can be difficult to get started with. While the manual is fairly detailed and comprehensive, the large amount of background information that has to be absorbed before the user can do anything interesting is intimidating. Here we give an alternative ‘quick start ’ guide, aimed at teaching basic use of the system quickly by means of a graded set of examples. Some readers may find it easier to absorb; those who do not are referred after all to the

We holographically compute supercharge diffusion constants in supersymmetric field theories, dual to AdS black brane solutions of arbitrary dimension. This includes the extension of earlier work by Kontoudi and Policastro for D3branes to M2 and M5brane theories. We consider the case of vanishing chemical potential. In particular, we relate the product of a diffusion constant and the energy density to a universal result for the fermionic absorption cross section. This relation is analogous to the famous proof of universality of η/s. We calculate the diffusion constants in two different ways: First, the computation is performed via the low frequency, low momentum pole of the correlator of supersymmetry currents. This pole describes the hydrodynamic phonino mode, the massless Goldstone fermion of spontaneous supersymmetry breaking by temperature. Second, the calculation is carried out using the dual transversal mode of the bulk gravitino, with the help of a new Kubo formula. Moreover, we provide some evidence for the applicability of generalized dimensional reduction for fermions when computing the corresponding Dpbrane diffusion constants.
