Abstract. Enterprise architecture (EA) management forms a commonly accepted means to enhance the alignment of business and IT, and to support the managed evolution of the enterprise. One major challenge of EA management is to provide decision support by analyzing as-is states of the architecture as well as assessing planned future states. Thus, different kinds of analysis regarding the EA exist, each relying on certain conditions and demands for models, methods, and techniques. In this paper we present a classification schema for EA analysis approaches to examine this topic. The classification schema is used to investigate the state-of-the-art of EA analysis by characterizing existing approaches according to the presented dimensions. Based on the results of this classification, future areas of research regarding EA analysis are derived. Key words: Enterprise architecture management, EA analysis, ex ante/ex post analysis, behavioral/structural analysis, EA analysis classification 1 Introduction and

Abstract. The discipline of enterprise architecture (EA) management is albeit a long history still developing. This is becomes obvious, when literature on the EA management function is analyzed. Multiple approaches describe different make-ups for the overall function, while a common sense does yet not exist. In this paper, we analyze EA management functions as proposed in literature from a systemic perspective and derive typical management activities such a function should encompass. Based on these activities, a method framework for EA management is derived, which is assessed in a case study from the financial industry. 1 Motivation and

Abstract. The idea of the enterprise architecture (EA) has been active since 1980-ies. However, enterprise architecture performance attributes analysis still lacks a clear approach and tools for implementing it in practice. The paper presents an approach for the model-driven performance evaluation of the EA models. The suggested approach is based on the Unified profile for MODAF and DoDAF (UPDM), System Modeling Language (SysML) parametric diagram, and a bottom-up performance evaluation algorithm. The support for this method has been implemented in MagicDaw modeling product line. A real world example is presented to validate the suitability of the approach.

Abstract. Enterprise Modelling is a discipline which tries to capture and reason about the distinct dimensions (e.g. structure, strategies and processes) involved in organizations by means of visual models. In this work, we are interested in using Enterprise Architectures to gain an understanding of the enterprise to promote a goal-oriented enterprise analysis. This paper describes the current state of art in literature of enterprise architecture and correlated areas and outline research questions that represent the open challenges that must be faced to promote this goal. In particular, the description of literature and the research questions are made in terms of the languages that model the enterprise architecture as well as the techniques that support architectural analysis.

Enterprise Architecture (EA) management is widely alluded to as an important challenge for today’s enterprises. Different approaches from literature target this topic and emphasize on the importance of analyzing the EA as part of the management function. In this respect, different analysis techniques have been proposed, each based on a different representation of the EA in a model. Largely disconnected, different methods for documenting and planning the EA and her evolution have been discussed, leading to object-oriented models for this purpose – the so called information models. While these both areas are maturing independently, we experience a low cohesion between them. In particular, the models created for documentation as well as planning on the one hand and the models used for analyses on the other hand differ strongly, when it comes to the underlying meta models and concepts. In this paper, we aim at closing the gap resulting from the aforementioned fact. To do so, we discuss the requirements for a suitable object-oriented meta model and exemplify the requirements with an extension to the OMG’s Meta Object Facility.
