Many pieces of research have been undertaken in recent years that consider stress in statutory social work. The research has tended, inevitably, to focus on negatives in social workers ’ lives, by considering dissatisfaction with the job, absences from work and other physical, psychological and behavioural symptoms of stress. Little attention has been given in the studies of stress and social work to expanding on the positives of social work, the rewards involved, high job satisfaction, the importance of how workers cope with the job, the contribution of supervision, personal and group support at work and home, alongside the positive well-being of many individual social workers. This article highlights the satis-faction social workers feel about their work, considers healthy and unhealthy coping strat-egies that are, and might be, used, gender differences and the importance of various forms of support from within the work setting, especially mutual group support, accompanied by individual differences linked to good self-esteem, personal hardiness and resilience.

This article proposes an understanding of law that goes beyond the popular association of law with sovereignty, constitutionalism and representative political institutions. By drawing on insights provided by the law as governance and ‘non-essentialist version of legal pluralism ’ approaches, the focus is on retrieving the specificity of plural legal and normative ordering strategies. The law as governance approach proposes a modest role for law where law is conceived as connectively situated among a multi-plicity of other constitutive modes of regulation. The ‘non-essentialist version of legal pluralism ’ is a conventionalist rearticulation of the hitherto unproblematized tradition of legal pluralism. Comparing the law as governance and ‘non-essentialist version of legal pluralism ’ approaches contributes to a post-sovereigntist understand-ing of law. A post-sovereigntist understanding of law focuses on the state as a site for the unification of regulatory projects, but, inspired by Michel Foucault’s later works, finds it important to place analyses of law within the context of a decentered economy of productive power and extensive government. This post-sovereigntist understanding not only provides a clearer depiction of the way legal and normative ordering and their interrelations work in the everyday, but raises questions regarding the future of legal pluralism in socio-legal theory.

Research has d~t~rmined that exercise is not only beneficial to healthy adults, but can help patients who suffer from chronic disease. By not utilizing exercise prescriptions health care providers are losing a valuable tool in promoting active lifestyles. The objectives of this paper are 1) to review exercise benefits, 2) describe exercise prescriptions that can be incorporated into patient lifestyles, 3) to establish a need for stronger implementation and compliance of exercise programs. Various trials of exercise prescriptions have been shown to encourage and promote physical actiVity, but the obstacle of requiring extra provider interview time remains an issue. Several studies used direct measurable outcomes, such as increase in strength, decrease in lipid levels, decrease in body fat, increase in lean body mass, and increase in patient compliance. Several studies used subjective indicators, such as an increase in "willingness" to comply, change in mood states, and positive changes in pain perception in regard to chronic disease symptomology. Through numerous studies, exercise has been shown to have positive health benefits, but the data are sparse regarding implementation of exercise prescriptions.

Abstract We derive thermodynamically an expression for the theoretical open circuit voltage of a rectenna device that converts high frequency ac radiation into dc power output. In addition, we obtain the conversion efficiency of an electron emission rectenna, which consists of a nano-antenna collector and a geometrically asymmetric rectifying MVM tunnel junction. This quantity plays an analogous role to the fill factor for conventional n-p semiconducting PV devices in limiting the overall efficiency. Thus, in effect, we develop a theory analogous to the Shockley-Queisser theory or limit (SHQL) for rectennas. The predicted limitations on the efficiency of the electron emission device, as in the case of the SHQL for n-p junction devices, are useful for guiding the development of practical devices based on rectennas

Anomaly of the left anterior descending (LAD) coronary artery arising from the right sinus of valsalva is frequently seen with tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). The association of the LAD coronary artery with ventricular septal defect (VSD) is uncommon. We described an anomalous origin of the LAD coronary artery from the right sinus of valsalva with ventricular septal defect in a 38-year-old male patient suffering from atypical angina. The LAD coronary artery arose from the right sinus of valsalva, just next to the right coronary artery. There was a single opening in the membranous part of the interventricular septum. From this case, we suggest that angiography is useful for both documenting anomalies of the LAD coronary artery associated with VSD and for determining the safest surgical procedures.

Purpose: Direction of myocardial fibers in a healty human heart wall are homo-geneously aligned in a plane which is parallel to the luminal surface of the heart wall. However, in a hypertrophic cardiomyopathy heart wall, the directions of myocardial fibers are disarrayed. For evaluation of such a change in the structure of myocardial fibers, the angle dependence of ultrasonic scattering in relation to the fiber direction was investigated in this paper. Experiment: In this study, we measured the ultrasonic echoes from a copper wire and from nylon fibers which mimics a bundle of myocardium fibers. We focused on ultrasonic scattering properties in relation to the azimuth and elevation angles of insonification and reception relative to the fiber direction. Results: Experimental results showed that the amplitude of the reflected echo from the nylon fibers became the maximum when the ultrasonic beam was insonified parallel to the direction of the fiber in the azimuth angle. On the other hand, in the case of the perpendicular insonification, the echo amplitude became the minimum. These results suggested the possibility of diagnosis of cardiomyopathy by measuring the angle dependence of scattering.
