In this era of implant dentistry, the teaching and indications for removable prosthodontics is becoming a lost art, especially in affluent urban environments, where most replacements are accomplished by the use of implant fixtures. Removable prosthodontics is still being taught and is used in rural areas and in the elderly patients or medically compromised individual. Therefore it challenges the restorative dentist to be able to fabricate optimum functioning removable complete and partial dentures. Dental schools especially in affluent urban areas, are currently stressing the use of endosseous implants to replace single teeth, partially edentulous situations, and completely edentulous dental arches. Consequently, there appears to be a lack of teaching of removable prosthodontics. There are dental laboratories usually in urban areas that mostly fabricate implant prosthesis with and without the use of CAD/CAM [1]. Furthermore, there are laboratories that still create fixed and removable partial and complete

Venezuela is a textbook example of a resource-dependent country—between 1950 and 2008, oil generated over a trillion dollars of income for the state. Nevertheless, Venezuela currently combines an economy that is stagnant, despite high oil prices, with an increasingly authoritarian government. The authors argue that large oil rents that accrue to the state, together with a lack of formal and transparent mechanisms to facilitate citizen oversight, are a large part of the problem. They consider the nature of the fiscal contract between the Venezuelan government and its people. This has been characterized by increasing discretion of the executive; only a small share of the rents is now subject to political oversight within the framework of the budgetary system. The authors consider the case for direct distribution of rents, distinguishing it from a populist approach to transfers as effected through Venezuela’s misiones. They also report on focus group discussions of the directdistribution approach and the political viability of direct transfers.
A Viable Alternative? Bus Rapid Transit: A Viable Alternative?
"... Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) presents a significant opportunity for the public transit industry to enhance the set of transportation investment options that can be brought to bear on the mobility problems experienced by urban areas across the country. As new Census data are released, the picture of stron ..."

areas. This article addresses several specific characteristics of BRT that differentiate it from other public transit modes and supports the explicit consideration of BRT as an alternative in Major Investment Studies (MIS). Clearly, the high cost of rail transit limits the possible role it can play

Abstract. We present an in-depth study of various implementations of DGEMM, using both the recursive and iterative programming styles. Recursive algorithms for DGEMM are usually cache-oblivious and they automatically block DGEMM’s operands A, B, C for the memory hierarchy. Iterative algorithms for DGEMM explicitly block A, B, C for the L1 cache, higher caches and memory. Our study shows that recursive DGEMM implementations cannot achieve the high performance of blocked iterative algorithms. 1 A study of Recursive and Interative Algorithms for DGEMM The performance of DGEMM on modern computers is limited by the performance of the memory system in two ways. First, the latency of memory accesses can be many hundreds of cycles, so the processor may be stalled most of the time, waiting for reads to complete. Second, the bandwidth from memory is usually far less than the rate at which the processor can consume data. This contribution examines in depth these limitations for both recursive and iterative programming styles. We describe the results of a study of the performance of highly-optimized cache-oblivious and cache-conscious programs for DGEMM on four modern architectures:

Power law cosmology- a viable alternative

A power law cosmology is defined by the cosmological scale factor evolving as tα. In this work, we put bounds on α by using the joint test of the SNe Ia data from Supernova Legacy Survey (SNLS) and H(z) data with curvature constant k = 0, ±1. We observe that the combined analysis with SNLS and H(z) data favours the open power law. It is also interesting to note that an Einstein- de Sitter model (α = 2/3) is ruled out at 2σ level. cosmology with α = 1.31 +0.06 −0.05 1
SCATS VIDEO DETECTION – A VIABLE ALTERNATIVE
