Testing for Common Trends
Journal of the American Statistical Association
, 1988
"... Cointegrated multiple time series share at least one common trend. Two tests are developed for the number of common stochastic trends (i.e., for the order of cointegration) in a multiple time series with and without drift. Both tests involve the roots of the ordinary least squares coefficient matrix ..."

Reusable ontologies are becoming increasingly important for tasks such as information integration, knowledgelevel interoperation, and knowledgebase development. We have developed a set of tools and services to support the process of achieving consensus on common shared ontologies by geographically distributed groups. These tools make use of the worldwide web to enable wide access and provide users with the ability to publish, browse, create, and edit ontologies stored on an ontology server. Users can quickly assemble a new ontology from a library of modules. We discuss how our system was constructed, how it exploits existing protocols and browsing tools, and our experience supporting hundreds of users. We describe applications using our tools to achieve consensus on ontologies and to integrate information. The Ontolingua Server may be accessed through the URL http://ontolingua.stanford.edu/
A vectorial Matching Pursuit algorithm applied to the analysis of Vectocardiogram data

A modification of the Matching Pursuit algorithm is presented which allows the recovery of a vectorvalued signal from partial data (a relaxed version of the algorithm is also introduced, and shown to converge). The new algorithm is illustrated by its application to the analysis of a vectocardiogram signal. EDICS Classifications: 1MDIG, 2SAMP. *Corresponding author 2 I. Introduction The Matching Pursuit algorithm [10], [7], [12], [5] is an algorithm that has been used in such settings as signal and image processing when one has large amounts of information available from which one must select the most important features. This enables one to obtain a more easilyanalysed approximation to the given data. Versions of this algorithm have also been used in medical contexts for the analysis of breathing rhythms [1] and brain patterns [8]. In this paper we present two refinements of the algorithm. One is a relaxed version which in some situations leads to faster convergence. The other re...

"... Sophisticated text similarity measurements are used to determine relationships between naturallanguage texts and text segments. The resulting linked hypertext maps are used to identify different text types and text structures, leading to improved text access and utilization. Examples of text decompo ..."
