• Sixty-one survey responses were received, which included all the HBs except one (Fig 1). • The majority of respondents worked in hospital (44.4%) or in a specialist Stroke Unit (31.1%) with the remaining working in the community (24.5%) (Fig 2 & Table 1). • The role of the respondents is shown in Figure 3. • All HBs aimed to provide some form of VS and the tests included varied across HBs. • The VS was primarily undertaken by Occupational Therapists (41.5%) and Orthoptists (24.4%) (Table 1). • Respondents were involved in screening for cognitive impairment, mobility difficulties, and vision problems (Table 2). • The tests included in the VS varied (Table 3). One HB assessed visual fields whilst another used VS assessment forms to ensure that all relevant aspects of vision are assessed. • 67.2 % of respondents received information about the visual status of patients following stroke and 60.7% reported inter-discipline communication was effective. • The role of Orthoptists in vision assessment & management was not understood by 44.3 % of respondents.

Estimation of the number of nucleotide substitutions in the control region of mitochondrial DNA in humans and chimpanzees.

by Koichiro Tamura , Masatoshi Nei - Mol Biol Evol , 1993
"... Examining the pattern of nucleotide substitution for the control region of mitochondrial DNA ( mtDNA ) in humans and chimpanzees, we developed a new mathematical method for estimating the number of transitional and transversional substitutions per site, as well as the total number of nucleotide sub ..."

Estimating the Total Number of Vehicles

by Saad A. H. Algadhi, Rasin K. Mufti, Daniel, F. Malick
"... ABSTRACT. Knowledge of the total number of vehicles active on the road (TNVAR) is an important input in planning and managing road transportation system. Such figure is not available in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This paper presents a modeling-based methodology to estimate TNVAR. The model is comp ..."

A High-Throughput Path Metric for Multi-Hop Wireless Routing

by Douglas S. J. De Couto, Daniel Aguayo, John Bicket, Robert Morris , 2003
"... This paper presents the expected transmission count metric (ETX), which finds high-throughput paths on multi-hop wireless networks. ETX minimizes the expected total number of packet transmissions (including retransmissions) required to successfully deliver a packet to the ultimate destination. The E ..."

Weighted Voting for Replicated Data

by David K. Gifford , 1979
"... In a new algorithm for maintaining replicated data, every copy of a replicated file is assigned some number of votes. Every transaction collects a read quorum of r votes to read a file, and a write quorum of w votes to write a file, such that r+w is greater than the total number number of votes assi ..."

Reaching Agreement in the Presence of Faults

by M. Pease, R. Shostak, L. Lamport - JOURNAL OF THE ACM , 1980
"... The problem addressed here concerns a set of isolated processors, some unknown subset of which may be faulty, that communicate only by means of two-party messages. Each nonfaulty processor has a private value of reformation that must be communicated to each other nonfanlty processor. Nonfaulty proc ..."

processors and n is the total number. It is also shown that if faulty processors can refuse to pass on reformation but cannot falsely relay information, the problem is solvable for arbitrary n _> m _> 0. This weaker assumption can be approxunated m practice using cryptographic methods.
