A Stratified Approach to Metric Self-Calibration

by Marc Pollefeys, Luc Van Gool , 1997
"... Camera calibration is essential to many computer vision applications. In practice this often requires cumbersome calibration procedures to be carried out regularly. In the last few years a lot of work has been done on selfcalibration of cameras, ranging from weak calibration to metric calibration. I ..."

. It has been shown that a metric calibration of the camera setup (up to scale) was possible based on the rigidity of the scene only. In this paper a stratified approach is proposed which gradually retrieves the metric calibration of the camera setup. Starting from an uncalibrated image sequence

A Stratified Approach for Camera Calibration Using Spheres

Users often do not require a complete answer to their query but rather only a sample. They expect the sample to be either the largest possible or the most representative (or both) given the resources available. We call the query processing techniques that deliver such results ’approximate’. Processing of queries to streams of data is said to be ’progressive’ when it can continuously produce results as data arrives. In this paper, we are interested in the progressive and approximate processing of queries to data streams when processing is limited to main memory. In particular, we study one of the main building blocks of such processing: the progressive approximate join. We devise and present several novel progressive approximate join algorithms. We empirically evaluate the performance of our algorithms and compare them with algorithms based on existing techniques. In particular we study the trade-off between maximization of throughput and maximization of representativeness of the sample. 1.

Targeted therapeutics for multiple myeloma: the arrival of a risk-stratified approach. Mol Cancer Ther

by Rafael Fonseca, A. Keith Stewart
"... Multiple myeloma (MM) remains an incurable hematologic malignancy characterized by frequent early responses, inevitably followed by treatment relapse. Until recently, few effective therapies existed. Indeed, the use of alkylat-ing agents and corticosteroids had remained the treatment of choice for a ..."

unprecedented response rates in newly diagnosed and relapsed MM. Nevertheless, relapse remains universal and further therapeutics with broad activity are required. Importantly, it has become clear that pivotal genetic events are the primary harbingers of clinical outcome and novel targeted therapy approaches

Stable models and an alternative logic programming paradigm

by Victor W. Marek - In The Logic Programming Paradigm: a 25-Year Perspective , 1999
"... In this paper we reexamine the place and role of stable model semantics in logic programming and contrast it with a least Herbrand model approach to Horn programs. We demonstrate that inherent features of stable model semantics naturally lead to a logic programming system that offers an interesting ..."

The proposed approach is based on the interpretation of program clauses as constraints. In this setting programs do not describe a single intended

Stratified, Weak Stratified, and Three-valued Semantics

Stratified Planning

by Yixin Chen, You Xu, Guohui Yao
"... Most planning problems have strong structures. They can be decomposed into subdomains with causal dependencies. The idea of exploiting the domain decomposition has motivated previous work such as hierarchical planning and factored planing. However, these algorithms require extensive backtracking and ..."

The domain decomposition of planning problems, unfortunately, is not directly and fully exploited by heuristic search. We propose a novel and general framework
