Gynecomastia is defined as excessive development of the breast in boys and has been known to exist for thousands of years, as has been shown in Tutankkamun and other pharaohs ’ statutes.1 Clinical gynecomastia is defined as enlarged breast glandular tissue exceed-ing 0.5 cm. Because of the differences in definition of clinical gynecomastia, the prevalence figures are 4 % to 69%, with a consensus of 50 % to 60 % of cases peaking between ages 13 and 14.2 Gynecomastia is also very common in infancy and was estimated to be as high as 60 % to 90 % in all neonates at birth because of high estrogen levels in the maternal-placental unit.3 The gynecomastia in infancy might persist as long as 6 months.4 In the premature the-larche syndrome in girls, it may persist past 6 months
