Ontologies: Principles, methods and applications
- KNOWLEDGE ENGINEERING REVIEW
, 1996
"... This paper is intended to serve as a comprehensive introduction to the emerging field concerned with the design and use of ontologies. We observe that disparate backgrounds, languages, tools, and techniques are a major barrier to effective communication among people, organisations, and/or software s ..."

The CASK method (Computer-aided Acquisition of Semantic Knowledge) is being used at CELTA with the SEMANA (SEMantic ANAlyser) software, which was especially designed for this purpose. We use the notation of semantic feature structures as a meta-language for describing the category of aspect in Polish regardless of its pertaining to various levels of expression (morphological, syntactical or lexical). To model the category of aspect we treat types of situations as conditions for two relevant aspect parameters we call analysis of the situation (or internal aspect) and control of the situation (or external aspect). In order to cope both with the lexical diversity of aspectual morphemes (prefixes) and the grammatical (dichotomous and obligatory) character of aspect in Slavic languages, we have proposed to define the perfective aspect as a hypercategory. Our database of Polish aspect was analysed using KDD statistical tools (G. Sauvet 2008,

Ontological Issues in Agent-aware Negotiation Services ⋆
"... Abstract. In negotiation events involving multiple, highly customisable goods, buying agents need to express relations, constraints, and preferences over attributes of different items. Not forgetting the provider side, providing agents may also impose constraints or conditions over their offers. Thu ..."

. Thus, there is the need for providing all trading agents involved with a rich enough language to express their business rules. In this paper we focus on the ontological issues that need to be considered in order to empower the expressiveness offered by negotiation objects and offers to incorporate
Working Knowledge
, 1998
"... While knowledge is viewed by many as an asset, it is often difficult to locate particular items within a large electronic corpus. This paper presents an agent based framework for the location of resources to resolve a specific query, and considers the associated design issue. Aspects of the work ..."

Ontology is a question of the existence of the world, but also equally important in a philosophical argument is that of an epistemology – or a set of rules. We explore the higher-level purpose
