My primary research interest is the study of computer programming from a human cognition perspective to create practical tools for improving everyday software development. I am also interested in empirical software engineering, agile software development, and social aspects of computer science education. Much of my previous research has focu sed on industrial case studies to empirically assess the efficacy of agile software development techniques. I have also studied the sociological and pedagogical issues surrounding women and minorities in computer science education.
