The Group was set up in January 2007 as an ad hoc committee to: • review current global plans for space exploration; • assess what opportunities and benefits exist for UK participation; and • provide advice to BNSC and partners as to which areas the UK should focus on if it wishes to engage in space exploration. This analysis is on behalf of BNSC partners for input to UK Space Board, BNSC Space Advisory Council, PPARC Science Committee (or its successor), BNSC Space Technology Advisory Board and other relevant advisory committees. The views expressed are those of the members of the Group and not necessarily of their institutions. 2
LUNAR FIGURE AND LUNAR LIBRATION AS A CLUE TO LUNAR INTERIOR
"... The study of geometrical and dynamical figure of the Moon is one of the important elements of the complex approach to investigation of our satellite. Correlation of visible limb and real relief, mass distribution in lunar body, relative position of center figure and center of mass, geometrical sizes ..."

Dynamics of the lunar spin axis
- Astron. J
, 2006
"... The evolution of the lunar spin axis is studied. Prior work has assumed that the inclination of the lunar orbit is constant and that the node regresses uniformly. This work takes into account the nonconstant inclination and nonuniform regression of the node as determined from averaged models of the ..."

of the motion of the lunar orbit. The resulting dynamics is considerably more rich, exhibiting additional resonances, period doubling and tripling, and chaos.
Lunar Occultation of MACHOs
, 1995
"... Lunar occultation can be used to measure the proper motions of some of the long time scale microlensing events, te> ∼ 70 days, now being detected toward the Galactic bulge. The long events are difficult to explain within the context of standard models of the mass distribution and dynamics of the ..."

Kinematic Analysis of Lunar Exploration Manipulator
"... Abstract. The lunar exploration manipulator is an important part of lunar rover, which is also an important tool for the exploration of the moon. This paper simplifies the lunar exploration manipulator into two arms manipulator, which has three joint activities. Then analyze the motion of the manipu ..."

Social Potential Fields: A Distributed Behavioral Control for Autonomous Robots
, 1999
"... A Very Large Scale Robotic (VLSR) system may consist of from hundreds to perhaps tens of thousands or more autonomous robots. The costs of robots are going down, and the robots are getting more compact, more capable, and more flexible. Hence, in the near future, we expect to see many industrial and ..."

groups. The force laws are inverse-power force laws, incorporating both attraction and repulsion. The force laws can be distinct and to some degree they reflect the 'social relations' among robots. Therefore we call our method social potential fields. An individual robot's motion
Thorium abundances on the lunar surface
- J. Geophys. Res
, 2000
"... Abstract. Measurements of absolute thorium abundances on the lunar surface are presented using both the high- and low-altitude data taken with the Lunar Prospector Gamma-Ray Spectrometer. An analysis of the uncertainties shows that the measured uncertainties are < 0.5 µg/g and are close to the th ..."

Lunar Prospector: Gravity Mapping
"... Introduction In April 1966 the Russian's Luna 10 spacecraft's orbiting the Moon provided the first dynamical proof that the Moon's was far larger than what would be predicted from hydrostatic conditions. These results were produced by Akim [1966] when he evaluated the secular motion o ..."
