jects that use these technologies for archiving and retrieval. The main goal of the MAESTRO project is to discover, implement, and evaluate various combinations of these technologies to achieve analysis performance that surpasses the sum of the parts. For example, British Prime Minister Tony Blair can be identified in the news by his voice, his appearance, captions, and other cues. A combination of these cues should provide more reliable identification of the Prime Minister than using any of the cues on their own. MAESTRO is a highly multidisciplinary effort, involving contributions from three laboratories across two divisions at SRI. Each of these SRI technologies is described in more detail here. The integrating architecture makes it easy to combine these in different ways, and to incorporate new analysis technologies developed by our team or by others. Data Extraction from Structured Databases using Keyword-based Queries

by Mariana Soller Ramada , João Carlos Da Silva , Plínio De , Sá Leitão-Júnior
"... Abstract. Relational databases are used to store a large quantity of data scattered around the world. However, users face difficulties in accessing such data for lack of a more natural way of specifying queries. Techniques that use natural language words to search different information sources on t ..."

This work proposes a method that allows user to submit keyword-based queries, which are then semantically analysed and enriched before being mapped for the database language. Reasoning & Querying -- State of the Art: Keyword-based querying for XML and RDF

by Klara Weiand, François Bry, Tim Furche , 2008
"... Various query languages for Web and Semantic Web data, both for practical use and as an area of research in the scientific community, have emerged in recent years. At the same time, the broad adoption of the internet where keyword search is used in many applications, e.g. search engines, has famil ..."

familiarized casual users with using keyword queries to retrieve information on the internet. Unlike this easy-to-use querying, traditional query languages require knowledge of the language itself as well as of the data to be queried. Keyword-based query languages for XML and RDF bridge the gap between the two
