Abstract. Based partially on the belief that innovation is not possible under perfect competition, many thousands papers have been written about the nature of innovation under monopoly or oligopoly. In fact, competitive rents can and do sustain innovation in the complete absence of monopoly power. However, little is knownaboutthesourceandsignificance of these rents, or about the way in which innovative activity takes place under conditions of competition. We begin to remedy this imbalance by examining the way in which competitive innovators earn rents both in theory and in practice.

The objective of this research was to determine the potential distribution of four high impact invasive species under current and future climate within New Zealand. Three contrasting climate change models (CSIRO; NCAR; MIROC) were used with both medium (A1B) and high (A2) emission scenarios

The WS-Coordination specification describes an extensible framework for providing protocols that coordinate the actions of distributed applications. Such coordination protocols are used to support a number of applications, including those that need to reach consistent agreement on the outcome of distributed activities. The framework defined in this specification enables an application service to create a context needed to propagate an activity to other services and to register for coordination protocols. The framework enables existing transaction processing, workflow, and other systems for coordination to hide their proprietary protocols and to operate in a heterogeneous environment. Additionally this specification describes a definition of the structure of context and the requirements for propagating context between cooperating services.
