require fast and reliable communication between cars (vehicle-to-vehicle V2V) or between a car and a road side unit (vehicle-to-infrastructure). The fundamental component for the success of Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANET) applications is routing. In this paper we propose a VANET routing protocol that is especially designed for city environments. This protocol is based on the localization of the node, the cost assigned to the section and score for each vehicle. We present in this paper a detailed description for the proposed protocol compared to GyTAR protocols. Knowing that the GyTAR protocol is performing than the GSR and LAR protocols as demonstrated in [1]

Evolving Artificial Neural Networks

by Xin Yao , 1999
"... This paper: 1) reviews different combinations between ANN's and evolutionary algorithms (EA's), including using EA's to evolve ANN connection weights, architectures, learning rules, and input features; 2) discusses different search operators which have been used in various EA's; ..."

's; and 3) points out possible future research directions. It is shown, through a considerably large literature review, that combinations between ANN's and EA's can lead to significantly better intelligent systems than relying on ANN's or EA's alone

The Visual Analysis of Human Movement: A Survey

by D. M. Gavrila - Computer Vision and Image Understanding , 1999
"... The ability to recognize humans and their activities by vision is key for a machine to interact intelligently and effortlessly with a human-inhabited environment. Because of many potentially important applications, “looking at people ” is currently one of the most active application domains in compu ..."

methodologies; they are grouped in 2-D approaches with or without explicit shape models and 3-D approaches. Where appropriate, systems are reviewed. We conclude with some thoughts about future directions. c ○ 1999 Academic Press 1.

The Structure-Mapping Engine: Algorithm and Examples

by Brian Falkenhainer, Kenneth D. Forbus, Dedre Gentner - Artificial Intelligence , 1989
"... This paper describes the Structure-Mapping Engine (SME), a program for studying analogical processing. SME has been built to explore Gentner's Structure-mapping theory of analogy, and provides a "tool kit" for constructing matching algorithms consistent with this theory. Its flexibili ..."

flexibility enhances cognitive simulation studies by simplifying experimentation. Furthermore, SME is very efficient, making it a useful component in machine learning systems as well. We review the Structure-mapping theory and describe the design of the engine. We analyze the complexity of the algorithm

Detecting faces in images: A survey

by Ming-hsuan Yang, David J. Kriegman, Narendra Ahuja - IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON PATTERN ANALYSIS AND MACHINE INTELLIGENCE , 2002
"... Images containing faces are essential to intelligent vision-based human computer interaction, and research efforts in face processing include face recognition, face tracking, pose estimation, and expression recognition. However, many reported methods assume that the faces in an image or an image se ..."
