From the employer's perspective, the employment relationship is over. The employer would like to avoid liability as a result of the termination of the employment relationship – regardless of whether the termination was initiated by the employer or came as a result of a voluntary resignation initiated by the employee. Whatever the cause of the separation from employment, the employer would like to know that the employee could not successfully sue as a result of the separation. Maintaining one aspect of this relationship, trust in the agency, can be challenging. Lack of trust can influence public response to management decisions, including about wildland fire use.
