Abstract—This paper presents a novel methodology for concurrent error detection in linear analog circuits. The error-detection circuit monitors the input and some observable internal nodes of the examined circuit and generates an estimate of its output. The estimate coincides with the output in error-free operation, while in the presence of errors, it diverges. Thus, concurrent error detection is performed by comparing the two signals through an analog comparator. In essence, the error-detection circuit operates as a duplicate of the examined circuit, yet it is smaller, in general, and never exceeds the size of an actual duplicate. The proposed methodology is demonstrated on three analog filters. Index Terms—Analog test, concurrent error detection, linear analog circuits, state observation. I.

Running Head: CONFLICT ADAPTATION FOLLOWING ERRONEOUS RESPONSE PREPARATION When Cognitive Control Is Calibrated: Event-Related Potential Correlates of Adapting to Information-Processing Conflict despite Erroneous Response Preparation

by Antonio L. Freitas, Ruslan Banai, Sheri L. Clark
"... To examine when in the perception-action cycle resolving information-processing conflict modulates signals of the current need for cognitive control, the present work examined event-related potential correlates of response preparation (lateralized readiness potentials; LRPs) and of information-proce ..."

-processing conflict (fronto-central N2 responses) on trial n flanker trials, as a function of whether trial n-1 entailed a congruent flanker, an incongruent flanker, or a NoGo cue. Although LRP-indexed erroneous response preparation was substantial on incongruent trials across all levels of trial n-1, N2 amplitudes

Emotional processing of fear: Exposure to corrective information

by Edna B. Foa, Michael J. Kozak - Psychological Bulletin , 1986
"... In this article we propose mechanisms that govern the processing of emotional information, particularly those involved in fear eduction. Emotions are viewed as represented by information structures in memory, and anxiety is thought to occur when an information structure that serves as program to esc ..."

is an effective treatment. Physiological activation and habituation within and across exposure ession are cited as indicators ofemotional processing, and variables that influence activation and habituation of fear responses are examined. These variables and theindicators are analyzed to yield an account of what

Belief in the law of small numbers

by Amos Tversky, Daniel Kahneman - Psychological Bulletin , 1971
"... People have erroneous intuitions about the laws of chance. In particular, they regard a sample randomly drawn from a population as highly representative, that is, similar to the population in all essential characteristics. The prevalence of the belief and its unfortunate consequences for psychologic ..."

An item response theory analysis of self-report measures of adult attachment

by R. Chris Fraley, Niels G. Waller, Kelly A. Brennan - Journal of Personality and Social Psychology , 2000
"... Self-report measures of adult attachment are typically scored in ways (e.g., averaging or summing items) that can lead to erroneous inferences about important theoretical issues, such as the degree of continuity in attachment security and the differential stability of insecure attachment patterns. The timing of action-monitoring processes in the anterior cingulate cortex

by Vincent Van Veen, Cameron S. Carter - Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience , 2002
"... & The anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) has been shown to respond to conflict between simultaneously active, incompat-ible response tendencies. This area is active during high-conflict correct trials and also when participants make errors. Here, we use the temporal resolution of high-density event ..."

Erroneous Requirements: A Linguistic Basis for Their Occurence and an Approach to Their Reduction

by Kimberly S. Hanks, John C. Knight, Elisabeth A. Strunk , 2001
"... Poor communication of domain knowledge is implicated as a major threat to the validity of a requirements specification. It is hypothesized that careful examination of the mechanisms used for this communication can yield insight to motivate a response. We recognize that natural language is amenable t ..."

Error-related brain potentials are differentially related to awareness of response errors: Evidence from an antisaccade task

by Sander Nieuwenhuis , K Richard Ridderinkhof , Jos Blom , Guido P H Band , Albert Kok - Psychophysiology , 2001

The psychology of human kin recognition: Heuristic cues, erroneous inferences, and their implications

by Justin H. Park, Mark Schaller, Mark Van Vugt , 2008
"... Humans possess explicit, rule-based, and culturally determined systems for identifying kin, but kinship inferences are also influenced implicitly by cue-based mechanisms found commonly across the animal kingdom. These mechanisms are fallible. An evolutionarily informed signal-detection analysis sugg ..."

suggests that (a) cue-based kin recognition may sometimes be biased in favor of false-positive errors, resulting in implicit kinship inferences even in the presence of nonkin, and (b) the tendency toward this inferential error may vary predictably in response to specific developmental and contextual
