Reconsidering research on learning from media.
- Review of Educational Research,
, 1983
"... ABSTRACT. Recent meta-analyses and other studies of media influence on learning are reviewed. Consistent evidence is found for the generalization that there are no learning benefits to be gained from employing any specific medium to deliver instruction. Research showing performance or time-saving g ..."

THE MOTIVATE PROJECT: USING VIDEOCONFERENCING AS AN EDUCATIONAL MEDIUM
"... Many schools already have the facility to use videoconferencing, and as the technology develops, this will increase. However the question remains: how can using videoconferencing contribute to teaching and learning in school? The Motivate Project, based at the University of Cambridge, UK, uses video ..."

Higher levels of agency for children in knowledge building: A challenge for the Design of new knowledge media
- JOURNAL OF THE LEARNING SCIENCES
, 1991
"... Although adults and children both have zones of proximal development in which more knowledgeable others play essential roles, there is a difference in executive control that is most salient in question-answer dialogue. Adult learners typically ask questions based on their perceived knowledge needs, ..."

Research in training subjects to comprehend compressed speech has led to deeper studies of basic listening skills. The connected discourse is produced by a technique which deletes segments of the speech record and loins the remainder together without pitch distortion. The two problems dealt with were the sources of individual differences in the ability to understand time-compressed speech and the temporal characteristics of language which facilitate or impair listening comprehension. By reducing the amount of time available for the listener to process speech, the nature of listeniAg priorities emerges. The insertion of temporal spacing at linguistically strategic locations have enabled the experimentors to detertine whether they are behaviorally strategic. The identification of behaviorally strategic locations has, in turn, enabled them to further understand the nature of those activities which are necessary for processing speech and to what aspect of
Will media influence learning? Reframing the debate
- Educational Technology Research and Development
, 1994

The article reframes the questions raised by Clark to explore the conditions under which media will influence learning. Specifically, it posits the need to consider the capabilities o ..."

THE ‘CULTURE MEDIUM ’ IN DESIGN EDUCATION
"... Design solutions do not occur in a vacuum. They are nourished by a breeding ground that embraces various substances, phenomena and traces, all of which function as raw material for concept generation and ultimately for design. Perhaps an appropriate name for this breeding ground is ‘culture medium’, ..."
