The illusion of Control

by Ellen J. Langer - Journal of Personality and Social Psychology , 1975
"... A series of studies was conducted to elucidate a phenomenon here referred to as the "illusion of control. " An illusion of control was denned as an ex-pectancy of a personal success probability inappropriately higher than the ob-jective probability would warrant. It was predicted that fact ..."

NCP2830 is a cost effective mono audio power amplifier designed for portable communication device applications such as mobile phones. Due to its integrated charge pump structure, this part is capable of delivering 1 W of continuous average power to an 8.0 Bridge Tied Load no matter the voltage provided by a lithium/Ion battery. NCP2830 is a preferred solution for long playback audio with minimum space required. Added to a fast start−up time of 200 s and a −88dB PSRR, the NCP2830 audio power amplifier is specifically designed to provide high quality and level output power from low supply voltage, requiring very few external components. Features • 1 W to 8 load for VDD from 2.7 V up to 5.5 V • High quality audio (THD+N = 0.04%) • Low noise: SNR up to 100 dB • Very Fast Turn On Time: 200 s • Overall system efficiency optimization: up to 89%

The Aurora Experimental Framework for the Performance Evaluation of Speech Recognition Systems under Noisy Conditions

by David Pearce, Hans-günter Hirsch, Ericsson Eurolab Deutschland Gmbh - in ISCA ITRW ASR2000 , 2000
"... This paper describes a database designed to evaluate the performance of speech recognition algorithms in noisy conditions. The database may either be used to measure frontend feature extraction algorithms, using a defined HMM recognition back-end, or complete recognition systems. The source speech f ..."

A selection of 8 different real-world noises have been added to the speech over a range of signal to noise ratios with controlled filtering of the speech and noise. The framework

Ethernet: Distributed packet switching for local computer networks

by Robert M. Metcalfe, David R. Boggs - COMMUN. ACM , 1976

HyTech: A Model Checker for Hybrid Systems

by Thomas A. Henzinger, Pei-Hsin Ho, Howard Wong-toi - Software Tools for Technology Transfer , 1997
"... A hybrid system is a dynamical system whose behavior exhibits both discrete and continuous change. A hybrid automaton is a mathematical model for hybrid systems, which combines, in a single formalism, automaton transitions for capturing discrete change with differential equations for capturing conti ..."
