Assigning Responsibility for Failed Obligations
"... Abstract Traditional security policies largely focus on access control. Though essential, access control is only one aspect of security. In particular, the correct behavior and reliable operation of a system depends not only on what users are permitted to do, but oftentimes on what users are require ..."

and dependencies between obligations. We identify and formalize two key properties for the correct assessment of fault, and design responsibility assignment and fault assessment algorithms for a concrete yet general access control and obligation system. 1
Assigned Responsibility for Remote Robot Operation
"... The remote control of robots, known as teleoperation, is a non-trivial task, requiring the operator to make decisions based on the information relayed by the robot about its own status as well as its surroundings. This places the operator under significant cognitive load. A solution to this involves ..."

to this involves sharing this load between the human operator and automated operators. This paper builds on the idea of adjustable autonomy, proposing Assigned Responsibility, a way of clearly delimiting control responsibility over one or more robots between human and automated operators. Model-Based Analysis of Oligonucleotide Arrays: Model Validation, Design Issues and Standard Error Application
, 2001
"... Background: A model-based analysis of oligonucleotide expression arrays we developed previously uses a probe-sensitivity index to capture the response characteristic of a specific probe pair and calculates model-based expression indexes (MBEI). MBEI has standard error attached to it as a measure of ..."

Features of similarity.
- Psychological Review
, 1977
"... Similarity plays a fundamental role in theories of knowledge and behavior. It serves as an organizing principle by which individuals classify objects, form concepts, and make generalizations. Indeed, the concept of similarity is ubiquitous in psychological theory. It underlies the accounts of stimu ..."

Similarity or dissimilarity data appear in di¤erent forms: ratings of pairs, sorting of objects, communality between associations
Loopy belief propagation for approximate inference: An empirical study. In:
- Proceedings of Uncertainty in AI,
, 1999
"... Abstract Recently, researchers have demonstrated that "loopy belief propagation" -the use of Pearl's polytree algorithm in a Bayesian network with loops -can perform well in the context of error-correcting codes. The most dramatic instance of this is the near Shannon-limit performanc ..."

This result only holds for nodes in the loop. In the max-product (or "
