Retrospective Analysis of NIST Standard Reference Material 1450, Fibrous Glass Board, for Thermal Insulation Measurements

by Robert R. Zarr, N. Alan Heckert, Stefan D. Leigh
"... Thermal conductivity data acquired previously for the establishment of Standard Reference Material (SRM) 1450, Fibrous Glass Board, as well as subsequent renewals 1450a, 1450b, 1450c, and 1450d, are re-analyzed collectively and as individual data sets. Additional data sets for proto-1450 material lo ..."

Comprehensive Chemical Characterization of Hydrocarbons in NIST Standard Reference Material 2779 Gulf of Mexico Crude Oil

by David R. Worton, Haofei Zhang, Gabriel Isaacman-vanwertz, Arthur W. H. Chan, Kevin R. Wilson, Allen H. Goldstein
"... ABSTRACT: Comprehensive chemical information is needed to understand the environmental fate and impact of hydrocarbons released during oil spills. However, chemical information remains incomplete because of the limitations of current analytical techniques and the inherent chemical complexity of crud ..."

of crude oils. In this work, gas chromatography (GC)-amenable C9−C33 hydrocarbons were comprehensively characterized from the National Institute of Standards and Technology Standard Reference Material (NIST SRM) 2779 Gulf of Mexico crude oil by GC coupled to vacuum ultraviolet photoionization mass

EFFECTS OF CHEMICAL DISPERSANT ON OIL SEDIMENTATION DUE TO OIL-SPM FLOCCULATION: EXPERIMENTS WITH THE NIST STANDARD REFERENCE MATERIAL 1941B

by Ali Khelifa, Ben Fieldhouse, Zhendi Wang, Chun Yang, Mike Landriault, Carl E. Brown, Merv Fingas
"... As it is well established that application of chemical dispersant to oil slicks enhances the concentration of oil droplets and re-duces their size, chemical dispersants are expected to enhance oil sedimentation if applied in coastal waters rich in suspended paniculate matter (SPM) and if flocculatio ..."

A Laboratory Study on Formation of Oil-SPM Aggregates Using the NIST Standard Reference Material 1941b

by Ali Khelifa, Ben Fieldhouse, Dominic Pjontek, Zhendi Wang, Chun Yang, Merv Fingas, Carl E. Brown, Lloyd Gamble
"... Aggregation between suspended particulate matter (SPM) and oil droplets, which leads to the formation of Oil-SPM Aggregates (OSA), is widely acknowledged as a natural process that enhances dispersion of spilled oil in aquatic environments. A new laboratory study was performed to investigate the form ..."

the formation of OSA using the Standard Reference Material 1941b. The experiments were performed using Arabian Medium, Alaska North Slope and South Louisiana crudes. Sediment concentrations varied from 25 to 300 mg/L. A new procedure was developed to separate the OSAs from the bulk water, measure the oil

Numerous sites worldwide have been identified as having significant radioactive contamination, either as a result of routine or accidental releases. The radiological impact of this contamination depends on the extent to which the radionuclides are taken up by organisms, including humans. The mobility, and thus availability, of the radionuclides is greatly determined by the physico-chemical form (speciation) of the radionuclides in the soil or sediment in question. One of the most common methods used to indirectly examine the speciation of radionuclides in the solid phase is the sequential extraction technique, which partitions a soil or sediment sample into operationally-defined sequentially-dissolved fractions (e.g.,

The NIST Model for Role-Based Access Control: Towards A Unified Standard

by Ravi Sandhu, David Ferraiolo , Richard Kuhn
"... This paper describes a unified model for role-based access control (RBAC). RBAC is a proven technology for large-scale authorization. However, lack of a standard model results in uncertainty and confusion about its utility and meaning. The NIST model seeks to resolve this situation by unifying ideas ..."

The Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA)

by Don Johnson, Alfred Menezes , 1999
"... The Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) is the elliptic curve analogue of the Digital Signature Algorithm (DSA). It was accepted in 1999 as an ANSI standard, and was accepted in 2000 as IEEE and NIST standards. It was also accepted in 1998 as an ISO standard, and is under consideratio ..."
