Reconstructing building interiors from images
- In Proc. of the International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV
, 2009
"... This paper proposes a fully automated 3D reconstruction and visualization system for architectural scenes (interiors and exteriors). The reconstruction of indoor environments from photographs is particularly challenging due to texture-poor planar surfaces such as uniformly-painted walls. Our system ..."

Lazy Generation of Building Interiors in Realtime
"... Impenetrable doors are often quite common in virtual worlds. This is especially apparent in video games boasting large urban environments. Although there are often enterable buildings in these games, the vast majority of the buildings cannot be entered. Given limited develop-ment times and memory li ..."

limitations, it is infeasible for developers to create such a large number of building interiors for the player to ex-plore. Automatic real-time building interior generation can provide a means of entry through every visible door in a virtual world. We present a novel approach to generate virtual building
Mobile modelling for crowdsourcing building interior data
- Int. Arch. Photogramm. Remote
"... Indoor spatial data forms an important foundation to many ubiquitous computing applications. It gives context to users operating location-based applications, provides an important source of documentation of buildings and can be of value to computer systems where an understanding of environment is re ..."

of the issues involved in volunteering building interior data and outline a simple mobile tool for capture of indoor models. The nature of indoor data is inherently private; however in-depth analysis of this issue and legal considerations are not discussed in detail here.
PLANAR 3D MODELING OF BUILDING INTERIORS FROM POINT CLOUD DATA
"... We present an automatic system for planar 3D modeling of building interiors from point cloud data generated by range scanners. This is motivated by the observation that most building interiors may be modeled as a collection of planes representing ceilings, floors, walls and staircases. Our proposed ..."

A significant amount of rework in construction is caused by client last-minute changes and their inability to acquire a realistic appreciation of the product and from the 2-D drawings at the design development process. This paper introduces a computer system that enables a user to construct a 3-D design model efficiently using object models stored in element libraries. The system allows the user to ‘walk-through ’ the 3-D design so that the client and user can have a realistic appreciation of the product before it is built. In this paper, the architecture of the system and issues related to its implementation are presented. Keywords: Visualization, 3-D, AutoCAD, Rework,
The Digital Michelangelo Project: 3D Scanning of Large Statues
, 2000
"... We describe a hardware and software system for digitizing the shape and color of large fragile objects under non-laboratory conditions. Our system employs laser triangulation rangefinders, laser time-of-flight rangefinders, digital still cameras, and a suite of software for acquiring, aligning, merg ..."

, merging, and viewing scanned data. As a demonstration of this system, we digitized 10 statues by Michelangelo, including the well-known figure of David, two building interiors, and all 1,163 extant fragments of the Forma Urbis Romae, a giant marble map of ancient Rome. Our largest single dataset
Open Access Building Interior Model Interpolation between IFC and CityGML
"... Abstract: The use of building interior model in indoor emergency response and building interior navigation is becoming more and more common. Although the LoD4 of CityGML can express building interior spatial information quite well, it is hard to gather or obtain the spatial data in the building. In ..."
