Cardiovascular Responsiveness to Sympathetic Activation after

by Chronic Epinephrine Administration, Dean D. Schwartz, Douglas C. Eikenbuag , 1986
"... The effects of chronic elevation of plasma epinephrine concen-trations on pressor and cardiac chronotropic responses to spinal stimulation and exogenous norepinephnne were studied in the pithed rat. Animals were treated s.c. with epinephrine (1 00 g/ kg/hr) or vehicle for 6 days. Treatment with epin ..."

Treatment with epinephnne resulted in hypertension. Epinephnne treatment significantly reduced pressor and cardiac chronotropic responses to norepinephnne. This treatment also reduced cardiac chronotropic responses to spinal stimulation but had no significant effect on pressor re-sponses to spinal stimulation. The preferential beta-2 adreno-captor antagonist ICI 1 18,551 (50,g/kg) had no effect on pressor or cardiac chronotropic responses to norepinephnne in either vehicle-treated or epinephnne-treated animals. Similarly, pressor responses to spinal stimulation were unaffected in the

Ventilatory restraint of sympathetic activity during chemoreflex stress

by unknown authors , 2010
"... within-breath modulation of muscle sympathetic nerve activity (MSNA) is well established, with greater activity occurring during expiration and less during inspiration. Whether ventilation per se affects the longer-term (i.e., minute-to-minute) regulation of MSNA has not been determined. We sought t ..."

Running head: lung inflation reflex and sympathetic activity

by Rami N. Khayat, Tadeusz Przybylowski, Keith C. Meyer, James B. Skatrud, Barbara J. Morgan
"... We reasoned that if the lung inflation reflex contributes importantly to apnea-induced sympathetic activation such activation would be attenuated in bilateral lung transplant recipients (LTX). We measured muscle sympathetic nerve activity (MSNA; intraneural electrodes), heart rate, mean arterial pre ..."

SYMPATHETIC ACTIVATION IN BROADLY DEFINED GENERALIZED ANXIETY DISORDER

by Walton T. Rotha, Sigrun Doberenza, Anja Dietela, Ansgar Conrada, Anett Muellera, Alicia E. Meuretb, C. Barr Taylora, Sunyoung Kima
"... The definition of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) has been narrowed in successive editions of DSM by emphasizing intrusive worry and deemphasizing somatic symptoms of hyperarousal. We tried to determine the clinical characteristics of more broadly defined chronically anxious patients, and whether ..."
